Shamrock Schnapps Shakes are the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Or any day you want a boozy milkshake, really. It’s made with Peppermint Schnapps and Bailey’s Irish Cream! SO good.
SHAMROCK SCHNAPPS SHAKES. Say that 3 times fast.
Let’s all get down on my level for a minute and just admit that McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is … well it’s STUPID good.
Except the time a few years back that I ordered one and it had the distinctive chalky taste of fast food milkshake mix gone wrong. Sooooo I was turned off fast food shakes for eternity.
(except Jamocha. You literally can’t beat a Jamocha shake)
Anywho. I digress.
I finally got a decent blender and then the homemade milkshake / smoothie game was ON. Homemade Shamrock Shakes were at the top of my list, because a couple times a year, a minty green milkshake is just … satisfying.
So. About this shake.
I decided to booze ’em up a little bit. Because boozy desserts are good. And also because St. Patrick’s Day.
There are a couple of key ingredients here. You’ll need Peppermint Schnapps. Obviously I bought the cheapest peppermint schnapps known to man, and it worked out JUSSSSST fine. If you’d like really good peppermint schnapps, Rumple Minze is the way to go.
I also used Bailey’s Irish Cream and Adam’s Extract Green Food Color.
Adam’s is a brand I learned about while working on last year’s Halloween Project. My Black Magic Skull Cakes don’t have any food coloring, but because Adam’s sponsored the project, they sent me samples and I was impressed! You can totally use whatever cheap little food dropper of green food color is lurking in your cabinet, but if you are looking for a new one to try, you can find Adam’s here.
I ran out of my big bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream, but had this little airplane bottle of Bailey’s Vanilla Cinnamon hanging around. It was excellent.
What’s On Top
Sprinkles, DUH. I am a sucker for sprinkles in all forms. Rainbow non-pariels were exactly what this St. Patrick’s Day milkshake ordered. I also added a few Andes mint baking chips.
Boozy shakes! Mission Accomplished.
Looking for some other St. Patrick’s Day Desserts?
Bailey’s Irish Banana Cupcakes are perfectly moist little banana cakes covered in a cream cheese frosting that’s made with Bailey’s Irish Cream. There’s also Bailey’s in the ganache!
Death by Chocolate Guinness Cupcakes are probably my favorite cupcakes on the face of planet earth. That is not an exaggeration.
And if you need something savory I suggest this Guinness BBQ Sauce.

That looks AMAZING! I've never heard of a Shamrock Shake, with or without booze, but I mean, really, what drink isn't better with a little added extra...! Chocolate Milk is infinitely better as Sailor Jerry's chocolate milk...An iced coffee is nowhere near as good as a white russian...tomato juice or bloddy mary, I mean duh! I could go on...

Ummmm. I have NEVER had a Sailor Jerry's Chocolate Milk!! I love Sailor Jerry! Booze and ice cream are really a match made in heaven. Like whiskey in cake. Best friends.

Hellloooo, it'd be totally going against St. Patty's Day celebration code to NOT booze up your milkshake. It's written in the rules of St. Patrick's Day somewhere. Also, I stupid love Mickey D's shakes, too. And I stupid want to plant my face into this contraption and drown in minty, boozy happiness.
